The Equine Energiser - Single System Unit with 1 Paddle
Gelding 'double-barrelled' kicked by mare
The mare gained the advantage over this gelding when when his fly mask was momentarily dislodged over his eyes which prevented him being alerted to the mare's signal that insisted he move out of her space. The gelding was consequently kicked and immediately went lame.

The Equine Energiser
The Equine Energiser is a powerful PEMF unit made by Klemens Pulsers that has a range in frequency from 9 to 148 pulses per second. It is a heavy duty machine. The paddle will stay warm to touch at low speeds (1-7) , but will become hot after running at high to maximum speed (8-10 on the dial) for approximately 20 minutes. Heat protection in the form of a fireproof sock/pouch/cover should be used over the paddle when the paddle is in use for safety reasons.
Our PEMF devices were developed from the original PEMF units designed and used by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in USA. We use them on our horses when they present with sore muscles, injuries, infection and inflammation as an aid to massage and relaxation.
Trainers have reported to us that their racehorses and greyhounds have shown markedly improved race times after using the Klemens Pulsers for 3 sessions. They claim that injuries have healed faster and that pain is reduced. One greyhound trainer purchased 1 machine and was so impressed with the results that he bought another 4 machines to cater to his 14 racing greyhounds. He found racing times improved dramatically, after even only 3 sessions. (Details available on request).
Horses often relax during sessions - yawning, sighing, head-shaking, dropping head, standing with hind leg unloaded. We have used the Equine Energiser on horses with stiff, sore muscles and have found that horses behave more comfortably after the session. More information - use the contact form or phone 61+ 7 4157 9962 or 0407 257 453 or 0466 661 412.
From our own observation, use of the Equine Energiser appears to relieves tension, stiffness and muscular soreness and pain. We believe this is the case as horses show signs of relaxation and many show improved sporting performance. We have used the device on our rescue horses with great success also. From the horses' reactions, yawning, sighing, lowering their head, it appears to do something positive as in almost every case the horse displays some signs of relaxation.
The Equine Energiser is available in two models - the Single Paddle unit has one paddle and the Double System Unit has 2 paddles. Both units if used in a hands-free situation, require pockets to be fitted to the horse's light rug. The pockets could be detachable - sewn or velcroed onto both sides so the paddles could be used as in the diagram. We are working with a manufacturer on making a long pocket out of lightweight material that will attach with velcro onto existing rugs. This design however does not allow the paddle to be positioned near the lower legs, which is a common place for stress and inflammatory injuries to occur and so we are still working on that design. So at present, the legs must be treated with the hands-on version of the unit.
The Equine Energiser single paddle version offers the option of using Schumann's frequency (ie natural earth's pulsed electro-magnetic field). This is in addition to the full frequency range from 9 to 148 pulses per second.
Equine Energiser Double System with 2 Paddles
The latest upgrade of the Equine Energiser - the Equine Energiser Double System with 2 Paddles model - offers two complete energiser units as well as 2 paddles so that both sides of the horse can be treated at the same time. The horse would need to wear a rug with heat-resistant pockets stitched/velcored onto both sides of the rug. A heat resistant cover is required to cover the paddle head for safety reasons as the paddles will become hot if the units are operated at maximum speed (8-10).
The hands-free version is not 'electric lead/power-cord-free.' The unit must be plugged into an A/C power outlet, but the power is converted to DC by the unit and and the powerleads/cables coming from the unit are connected to the paddle. If the horse damages the paddle or its cable, it will not result in electrocution as it is DC power in that section of the machine. We recommend that the horse be cross-tied in a stall if this practice is accepted by the horse and that the horse is never left unattended while receiving PEMF treatment. The advantage of having the pockets attached to the horserug, is that the attendant doesn't have to hold the paddle onto the horse but can just observe the horse, checking regularly and often that the heat protective sock/cover is protecting the horse from receiving burns from excessive heat from the paddle. We recommend that when the units are used on maximum speed (8-10) that the paddles are hand held to ensure protection from over-heating.

Disclaimer (Klemens Pulsers are Not Patented)
None of the Klemens Pulsers, PEMF or other devices have been tested or approved by the FDA in USA or by the TGA in Australia where we are based. We are a small family business and we don't have funds available to have our machines tested or patented though we would really like to be in a position one day to have the testing carried out. Also we are not medically or veterinary qualified, so all information we share is just our opinions based on our personal experience and perceptions.
We have received positive testimonials from our customers, but testimonials can not be considered scientific proof that the devices produced positive results. We have been building these machines for 20 years.
There are published medical studies that can be referred to on our website: https://www.klemenspulsers.com/scientific-research-pemf.html where results of some PEMF devices (not Klemens Pulsers devices) have been tested. The PEMF studies have been done on humans and animals in some instances.

Safety
Horses might become panicked by the leads or paddle leading to injury. If the paddle is allowed to remain in contact with the horse's skin/hide for over 15 minutes at high speed (7-10) without sufficient thermal protection then the horse might suffer burn injury.
Despite the heat protectors which are supplied to cover the paddles, horses should not be left unattended and the paddle temperature should be regularly checked at least every 10 minutes to monitor heat levels and to ascertain the selected temperature is comfortable and safe for the horse.
Horse Panicking
Things aren't supposed to go wrong, but as those familiar with horses understand, things sometimes do fail despite our best planning, precautions and intentions.
As those familiar with horses understand, horses can get 'into trouble' with anything that seems new or unusual to them. Horses can spook and panic and try to escape from what they perceive as being dangerous to them. We recommend gently introducing the horse to the paddle so as not to startle the horse. While the device in operation is relatively quiet, the electric cables/leads might be mistaken for being snakes etc. If the horse moves, the electric leads might become tangled around the horse's neck or legs and even the touch or sight of them might trigger the horse to panic etc. Every horse owner should know that these things can and sadly do happen as horses can be unpredictable and as flight animals, they tend to hit the panic button first and deal with the results of their panic later. So there are the warnings and the risks of the hands-free version, at least those of which we are currently aware. It should be noted that if the horse managed to damage the electric lead/power cord that goes from the paddle handle to the Equine Energiser unit, the horse will not be electrocuted or shocked as that electric lead only supplies D/C current.
The Equine Energiser is connected to a mains power supply where alternating A/C current runs through the power cable from the wall socket. The power supply converts the power to D/C and sends it along the lead to the paddle. As with all electrical appliances, to avoid electrocution, it is recommended that the Equine Energiser only be connected to an approved electric power supply that has a safety switch installed. It is strongly recommended that the Equine Energiser unit itself, be placed in and operated from an area that is completely out of reach of the horse. It should also be out of the reach of children and adults who might 'fiddle' with the dial.
Paddle Temperature
We do not want any horses or people injured by using our devices but there is a risk of injury from heat produced by the paddle if our faster units are operated at full speed for periods of over 15 minutes without using heat protective covers over the paddle. We recommend that the devices, including the Equine Energiser, are only used with thermal protection and when used in the hands-free mode, that the speed be set no higher than 6 on the dial. The slower speeds avoid the generation of uncomfortable or dangerous heat. Hand-held operation allows for use of the higher settings but don't press the paddle to an open injury. PEMF will still reach the horse from an inch away from the skin. If the skin is not broken and a heat protective cover is over the paddle to protect from heat injury, the paddle may be placed onto the horse. Always check the temperature of the paddle before using it on the horse. The unit should be placed in an area where the dial can not be interfered with by children or by adults who might adjust the setting. It is wise and imperative to stay in attendance with the horse at all times that the Equine Energiser is in use.
The temperature of the paddle heats up past comfortable when the unit is run for over 15 mins at a dial speed of 7-10. At full speed or even from speed 7-10 the heat from the paddle is capable of burning skin if left in contact for about 15 seconds. That is why we strongly recommend the use of a heat-protective cover that fits over the paddle head. The unit itself can be run for several hours at high speed without damage, but if it is run at high speed for several hours, the hot paddle should be disconnected and replaced with a cool paddle, after every 1 hour of use. When operated at low speeds 1-6, with a properly functioning machine and paddle, the paddle does not need to be changed as the heat produced is not sufficient to cause damage to the paddle, to skin or hide. We regularly run the Equine Energiser/Ultra Pulsa at a speed of 7 overnight, using a thermal cover and at that speed, the covered paddle does not generate enough heat to burn our skin. It is a comfortable heat. The paddle does not heat up to the same degree when the paddle is exposed to cooler environments (in the cooler air of winter). The paddle also runs cooler when the Equine Energiser is operating in an open space. In contrast, the paddle heats up and becomes hot to touch when operated at high speeds (7-10) in an enclosed space (ie under blankets, inside pockets) for over 15 minutes. We recommend the use of a heat-protective sock or fireproof cover to be used over the top of the paddle to protect the operator and the horse from burn injury in all conditions and in all circumstances.
The Equine Energiser can be used hand-held at higher settings but it is strongly recommended that operators do not press the paddle into an open injury or to touch a broken bone. PEMF will still reach the horse from an inch away from the skin. If the skin/bone is not broken and a heat protective cover is over the paddle to protect from heat injury, the paddle may be placed into contact with the horse's skin/hide. Always check the temperature of the paddle before using it on the horse. If it is too hot for your skin, it's too hot for the horse too.
The Equine Energiser units can be used hands free if a suitable horse rug with pocket adaptions is used to hold the paddle/s. Heat-proof material is essential to cover the paddle head and the pocket material that is sewn or velcroed onto the rug.
We believe it is safer if the horse is cross-tied in a secure stall/stable but each operator will have to decide on what is best for their horses in regard to human and animal safety. The attendant is advised to remain with the horse at all times while the Equine Energiser is being used.
Despite the heat protectors which are supplied to cover the paddles, horses should not be left unattended and the paddle temperature should be regularly checked at least every 10 minutes to monitor heat levels and to ascertain the selected temperature is comfortable and safe for the horse.

Equine Energiser - Dual Paddle
The latest upgrade of the Equine Energiser - the Equine Energiser Dual Paddle model - offers two paddles so that both sides of the horse can be treated at the same time. The horse would need to wear a rug with heat-resistant pockets stitched/velcroed onto both sides of the rug.
The hands-free version is not 'electric lead/power-cord-free.' The unit must be plugged into an A/C power outlet and powerleads/cables are connected to the paddle. The horse must be cross-tied in a stall and not left unattended. The advantage of having the pockets attached to the horse rug, is that the attendant doesn't have to hold the paddle onto the horse but can just observe the horse, checking regularly and often that the heat protective sock/cover is protecting the horse from receiving excessive heat from the paddle.
Do-it-Yourself Pockets on Rugs
Customers are opting to adapt their existing horse rugs by stitching velcro-fastened pockets onto the rug.
Note
Rugs must be suitable for the current weather conditions and of material strong enough to support the weight of the paddles. ALWAYS use a heat protector over the paddles to prevent injury from burning. (Heat protector is sold with the Equine Energiser). Using the paddles in the pockets will cause the paddles to heat up as ventilation is severely reduced in the enclosed space. Hand held use in a well-ventilated space does not cause the paddles to over-heat. Recommended use is 20-30 minutes before turning off or changing the paddle or allowing it to cool down.
The latest upgrade of the Equine Energiser - the Equine Energiser Double System with 2 paddles - offers two paddles so that both sides of the horse can be treated at the same time. When using the hands-free method, the horse would need to be restrained and constrained in a stall preferably cross tied and wear a rug with pockets stitched/velcroed onto both sides of the rug and hood.
The units can be operated hand-held and while tedious, it is less likely to be a cause of accidental burning to your horse. Leaving the paddles in one place at maximum speed is not safe and the paddles should be used at maximum speed while hand held but at lower speeds (1-6) when the paddles are in the horse rug pockets.
